Ruby Da Cherry’s 29 Tattoos & Their Meanings

Aristos Petrou, known professionally by his stage name Ruby da Cherry is an American rapper and music artist. Ruby alongside his brother Scrim found the American Hip Hop duo Suicideboys and rose to popularity via Soundcloud for their abrasive beats and harsh lyrics. Their first studio album, I Want to Die in New Orleans was released in 2018 and reached the top ten on the US Billboard 200. Till now, Suicideboys have released over 40 projects including albums, singles, as well as mixtapes. They are currently signed with G59 Records. Besides being called Ruby da Cherry, Aristos has a few other nicknames too that include Suicide Leopard and Oddy Nuff da Snow Leopard. Ruby has many interesting inks on his body with many weird ones being on his arms. Let us take a look at the ones he has and explore their meanings.

Left Arm Tattoos

1. Bird Tattoo

Tattoo: The side of his left forearm, near his wrist, contains a tattoo of a little bird on it. The bird is also crying and holding a banner in its claws that reads, “CRY BABY”

Meaning: The bird on his wrist is a tribute tattoo for Lil Peep.

2. Car Tattoo

Tattoo: The upper side of his left hand contains a tattoo of an old Mercedes car on it. The word, “7 WARD” is also tattooed above the car.

3. Eiffel Tower Tattoo

Tattoo: The inner side of his left forearm contains a large tattoo of the Eiffel Tower on it.

4. Ship Tattoo

Tattoo: The upper side of his left forearm, near his wrist and his bird tattoo contains a tattoo of a ship on it that is sinking.

Meaning: The real meaning behind the tattoo has not yet been revealed by the singer but it might be another hint towards a movie or a series as his body contains many tattoos from his favorite shows.

5. Housefly Tattoo

Tattoo: The left forearm of the singer contains a tattoo of a housefly on it. There are also three little eggs below the housefly tattoo.

6. Mosquito Tattoo

Tattoo: The lower side of his left forearm contains another tattoo of an insect which is a mosquito.

7. Roach Tattoos

Tattoo: There are two tattoos of roaches on his left arm. One is on his hand and the other one is on the outer side of his forearm, near his skeleton tattoo.

8. Skeleton Tattoo

Tattoo: The side of his left forearm, just below his elbow contains a tattoo of a skeleton on it. What’s different about the skeleton is that it is on its knees and its hands are joined in prayer. Above the skeleton, you can see the other cockroach tattoo of his left arm.

Meaning: Although many of the tattoos on his body are eerie, this one represents his views on how God and religion helped him through his tough times. The lyrics as well as his band’s name, Suicideboys was inspired by real-life events as Ruby really did go through a suicidal phase in his life.

9. Ruins Tattoo

Tattoo: The side of his left forearm, near his wrist, contains a tattoo of broken pieces on it.

10. Monster Tattoo

Tattoo: The upper side of his left forearm contains a tattoo of the face of a monster who is screaming with its mouth open. There are also a few words tattooed below the face of the monster.

11. Circle Tattoo

Tattoo: The inner side of his left arm, below his bicep, contains a tattoo of a circular design on it. There is also a leafed pattern tattooed on the inside of his arm, where his elbow folds.

Right Arm Tattoos

12.Scribble, Hangman, and Paper Ghost Tattoos

Tattoo: The right shoulder of the musician contains three peculiar tattoos. The first one is a tattoo of a man whose portrait has been scribbled over to turn him into a funny sketch of that has tears rolling down his cheeks and has horns on his head. The second one is a beam from which many men who have been hanged to death are hanging with a rope at the end with a noose. The third one is a tattoo a paper bag over someone’s head to make a paper ghost.

Meaning: The tattoo of the portrait of a man which has been scribbled over is a tattoo of the US founding father, Benjamin Franklin.

13. Quote and Wolf Tattoos

Tattoo: Ruby’s right hand contains the quote, “WINTER IS COMING” tattooed on it. There is also a tattoo of the symbol of a wolf near his thumb.

Meaning: The quote, as well as the wolf, is from the popular series, Game of Thrones. The Wolf is the emblem of the House of Stark from the series and the quote, “Winter is Coming” is the motto of the House of Stark. Ruby got this tattoo on his body as he is a huge fan of the show.

14. Roach Tattoo

Tattoo: The upper side of his right forearm contains another tattoo of a cockroach on it.

15. Warrior Tattoo

Tattoo: The side of Ruby’s right forearm contains a tattoo of an ancient greek woman warrior carrying a sword and a shield. It is tattooed as such to make it look like it is diving downwards.

Meaning: The tattoo is of the ancient Greek Goddess Athena who is the Goddess of Wisdom and War. She is also the symbol of inspiration, law and justice, and strength. She is mostly portrayed with a sword and a shield-like in the tattoo and an owl. Ruby got this tattoo as it represents his Greek heritage. Ruby has a Greek Cypriot father, Pavlos Petrou.

16. Viking Tattoo

Tattoo: The right arm of the musician, just above the elbow, on the inner side contains a tattoo of a Norse symbol tattooed on it. It is a pattern of eight branches starting from a circle, encased in another circle with Viking runes tattooed around it.

Meaning: The Viking symbol is called, “Aegishjalmur” and is the symbol of victory as well as protection. The tattoo is also referred to as the Helm of Awe and serves as a protection amulet.

Leg Tattoos

17. Warrior Tattoo

Tattoo: There is another tattoo of a greek warrior on the front side of Ruby’s left leg, just above his ankle.

18. Goat Tattoo

Tattoo: There is a tattoo of a man with the face of a goat, tied up for sacrifice in front of a crescent moon symbol, on the inner side of Ruby’s right leg, just above his ankle.

Meaning: The goat is considered as the pet of the devil and being sacrificed here means the victory of good over evil and justice.

19. Cartoon Tattoo

Tattoo: The front side of the musician’s right leg contains a tattoo of a small penguin cartoon wearing an orange astronaut suit.

20. Batman and F1 Tattoo

Tattoo: The side of his right lower leg contains a tattoo of Batman’s cowl and the word, “F1” tattooed below it.

21. Leg Tattoos

Tattoo: The right lower leg of the musician contains a few other tattoos on it that include a mask, a few words, and two characters.

22. Grey 59 Tattoo

Tattoo: Ruby’s left thigh contains the words, “GREYFIVENINE” tattooed on it. Later on, he added a box to encase the words along with a rifle below it. There are also palm trees surrounding the words.

Meaning: “GREYFIVENINE” or Grey 59 is the full form of the label, G59 which is the record label with whom Suicideboys have released all their songs and mixtapes. The word G59 or Grey59 refers to Highway 59 in their hometown which separates parts of black and white communities. The Grey is the color you get when you mix black with white and G59 represents the neutrality between the two communities.

23. Devil Tattoo

Tattoo: All of Ruby’s body is covered in many unnatural tattoos but his right thigh contains the eeriest one of them all. There is a tattoo of the devil with a small twisted body and the head of a goat on the right thigh of the musician. It also has large claws and a pair of wings.

24. Dead by Dawn Tattoo

Tattoo: The front side of his left knee contains the words, “DEAD BY DAWN” tattooed on it.

Meaning: Ruby got this tattoo on his body as it is the name of one of his favorite TV shows titled, “Dead by Dawn”

Hand Tattoos

25. Cross Tattoo

Tattoo: The index fingers of both the hands of the musician contain tattoos of a little cross on them. The one on his right index finger is straight but the one on his left index fingers is inverted.

Meaning: The tattoo represents the religious views of the musician.

26. Letters Tattoo

Tattoo: All of Ruby’s fingers, contain a letter tattooed on each of them.

27. Signature Tattoo

Tattoo: The right thumb of the musician contains a tattoo of a signature on it.

Meaning: The signature is his own. The signature of his stage name, Ruby da Cherry.

Neck and Head Tattoos

28. Heart and Spiderweb Tattoo

Tattoo: The left side of Ruby’s neck contains a large tattoo of a heart on it. The heart is covered in chains and the name, “Krystal” is tattooed just above the heart surrounded by little stars. The left ear of the musician contains a little tattoo of a spiderweb in it.

Meaning: Ruby has a lot of tattoos on his body that he got for himself but this one, he got for his then-girlfriend, Krystal.

29. Target Tattoo

Tattoo: The left side of the musician’s head, above his ear, contains a large tattoo of a target mark of a gun on it. The tattoo is rarely seen as it is mostly covered by his hair.

Группа $uicideboy$ состоит из двух человек, это Скотт Арсено младший (Scott Arceneaux Jr.) и Аристос Петрос (Aristos Petrou). Однако в своей музыкальной деятельности они не используют реальные имена (что является нормой).

Музыканты имеют довольно длинный список псевдонимов, каждый из которых они используют в соответствии с замыслом композиции или собственным настроением. Некоторые имена просто красиво звучат, а некоторые персонажи обладают собственным характером и способны повлиять на восприятие песни, в зависимости от чьего лица она исполняется.

Ruby так пояснил использование имен в свое песне Everest (2015 год).
